Wednesday August 26th ~

Wednesday it's almost, sorta, kinda,
close to, just, about nearly the weekend...

The big yachts that went inland in preparation
for tropical storm Laura are slowly making
their way back to their respective homes.

Arvid and I just look at the boats passing by,
enjoying the view and saying to each other,
"so happy we do not have a boat."  We did,
a few times in our lives, but no more.

Our first boat together was named after the nickname Arvid
gave me when we met.  To this day it still makes me smile.

Yesterday we didn't walk.  Arvid was busy running
around doing other things, and by the afternoon is
was just too hot to get out.  Instead we stayed in
(again), and watched television (again).

The day is not packed with chores.  Not as of right
now anyway.  Hopefully we will find something to keep
us busy.  Otherwise the day stretches on forever.

Good morning everyone.  Be kind to yourselves.

Sometimes you just have to let life happen...

Monday April 6th ~ New Week Is Here

Today in not just another day.  It's a new opportunity.
Another chance, a new beginning.  Embrace it...

Yesterday I got a kick out of Arvid and I in masks.
It's not funny, but on the other hand when you really
think of it, it is.  This is what we have been reduced to in
order to be safe.  Here it is recommended you wear a
mask when in a public place.  We were at Lowe's.

My mom, sisters and I had a good laugh.
All my mom said was, "please you and Arvid
don't do anything illegal."  Still laughing.

Any outing today is a real treat.  My sister and
husband were bored yesterday, and even they went
for a drive, and where did they go Lowe's.  But
they didn't go in.  Even so it was an outing.

We also did our Sunday drive along the beach.
The beach is just as pretty except it looks so different.
There is no one on it.  People are still walking and riding
their bicycles, but not as many.  The entire strip
looks like a ghost town.  Quiet. Different.

Last night I was going through some pictures and
came across these of Arvid's mom and dad.  I know
💚 Molly reads my blog, and I am happy she will see 💛
these pictures in it there is one of her and her sister.

To all a good day.  The news said this will be one of
the worst weeks if not the worst for this virus.  Please stay
safe.  Stay home.  And so begins another week.

Everything will be okay in the end.
If it's not okay, it's not the end...

Happy Thursday ~

The sun shines everywhere, not just at the beach.
I believe that when you bring forth the best
there is within you, you lift yourself
to greater and greater heights...

No matter what we do and where we go, our day
always seem to enjoy a cafe latte.  I am already missing
all these outings with my parents.  Mom and I do
a little "girl" stuff everyday, and just thinking
of them leaving makes me very sad.

A few hours running around, we found ourselves

at The Whole Foods store.  To this day, the best
cafe latte you can get.  At least we think so.

The day was a combination of shopping, good
food lots of wind and sunshine.  It appeared at times
as if it were about to rain, but aside from a few
sprinkles there was not much of a downpour.

Arvid and I did our usual walk around the river.
Always something to see and do.  Yesterday we
did not cross paths with any of "my" kitties, but
we did meet up with a few other furry friends.

My mom loves drives and I am always happy to take
her around.  Looking forward to what today holds.

Life is like a moving river, and you can be at
the mercy of the river if you don't take action to
steer yourself in a predetermined direction...

Happy Day ~

Life is like an elevator: on your way up, sometimes,
you have to stop and let some people off...

Sunday and what a great day it will be. We will
be meeting with my sister and J for lunch. Yep! They’re
treating Arvid and I to lunch. Though we like our
Sundays by ourselves it is always nice
to spend quality time with family.

Hoping the weather is good because we would
like to take my sister for a little trip to Las Olas.  As
Arvid said “let’s all go out for some drinks after lunch.”
I’m happy. Happy because Arvid is also looking forward
to the outing.  Not much time we have together,
but what we have will be pure quality time.

Hopefully my sister will be spending the night with
us.  Hope so because Arvid has been cleaning up
his office the last couple of days in preparation for
Nirvana. Fingers crossed she will spend the night.

We will also have most of Monday with her.
So excited!  I love having family time. Today we
go back to a restaurant we all like.  It’s simple, but
the food is delicious.  Many go to places because
there is a need to impress. We go to places we feel
comfortable with and where the food is good.

I just hope it does not rain. This way we can take
the boat to Las Olas and walk around a bit.  My
sister likes Margaritas so definitely out to get
a few of those. Today will be our day.

Sunday’s are always peaceful and quiet. Time we
enjoy quality time together. Today it’s even better because
we get to spend it with J and my sister.  Unfortunately,
Alexandra is traveling. Another destination wedding.

A beautiful day awaits us. Be happy with what
you have.  Be excited about what you want.

Happy Cinco the Mayo all.
I see a Margarita happening today.

Whoever is happy will make others happy.
The best things in life are not things.  It's the
people who make you feel loved and cared for...

Fairy Tales Do Come Through ~

Being your best is not so much about overcoming the barriers
other people place in front of you as it is about overcoming
the barriers we place in front of ourselves. It has nothing
to do with how many times you win or lose. It has no relation
to where you finish in a race or whether you break world
records. But it does have everything to do with having the
vision to dream, the courage to recover from adversity
and the determination never to be shifted from your goals...

They say America is the land of opportunity, and in
the case of this young lady, it sure is.  When Arvid and I lived
in our first condo on Las Olas, The las Olas Grand.
we met her mother and step-father.

The step dad who is more dad to her was in construction.
Still is.  The mom cleaned apartments in the  building
we lived.  She still does.  At the time the young daughter
Irina helped out while attending night school.

I remember cleaning up my closet and giving to Judy,
the mom tons of clothes.  Many of which went
to Irina.  I was just happy that they fit.

Fast forward.  Irina graduated college. Started
working and the next thing I know her life "exploded"
into one amazing adventure to another.

She travelled the world, still does.  She became a
spokesperson for Ocean Conservation, mainly saving sharks.

She's Peruvian, and has also become the spokesperson
in Miami for many of the Peruvian businesses.
She inaugurates their stores and attends all
these gala functions. She is also the face of
Miami Motorcycle rentals. Busy girl

Point is from being the daughter of an cleaning
woman, today she is a force all on her own.  Just shows
that if you want to make it in this country you can.
It takes hard work and perseverance.

She is currently in Las Vegas competing for the title
of Miss World Peru.  Suddenly life became a fairytale.

When not attending charities, doing volunteer work,
she's a wife, daughter, friend and a fur baby mom.

Add to that, she's a natural beauty.  She's kind and
compassionate.  Down to earth and very real.  Not one to
be presumptuous, very humble.  She's also married to a
very handsome man who just happens to be super rich and
who adores her.  She's living her dream, one that did not
drop on her lap, but one she worked hard to achieve.

Wishing you the best in Las Vegas.  Bring home
that title you've worked so hard for.  Girl POWER!

The bottom line is don't let anyone tell you it can't be done.
All that means is that it can be done, even if it takes some
time. Living proof is Irina.  A true "rags to riches"

Winners are ordinary people with extraordinary
 determination. Never consider the possibility of failure;
as long as you persist, you will be successful...
