Good News About Raisins...

What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up Like a raisin in the sun?... Or does it explode?

You never know what you will learn while waiting in a doctors office.  On this particular visit, I happened to see a little flash news report on the benefits of raisins.  Me I am not that crazy about the but if they are mixed in with my cereal then I have not problems enjoying them.

Raisins are basically just dried grapes.  They are produced in many regions of the world. Raisins may be eaten raw or used in cooking, baking and brewing.

According to the news I saw, snacking on raisins can help prevent high blood pressure.  A study conducted with 46 men and women with early signs of hypertension found that by eating a handful of raisins 3 times a day helped lower blood pressure over the course of three months.

Raisins are packed with potassium which is known to lower high blood pressure.  They are also a good source of antioxidants dietary fiber that may favorably alter the biochemistry of blood vessels.

You don't have to be a backpacker or hiker to appreciate raisins as a convenient, high energy low fat snack; they are easy to pack, easy to eat and almost never go bad. Like other dried fruits, raisins are available throughout the year.

So here's to good health and good snacking!
Enjoy and have a good day!

They used to be fat and juicy and now they're twisted. They had their lives stolen. Well, they taste sweet, but really they're just humiliated grapes. I can't say I am a big supporter of the raisin council
