Sunday June 15th~ Happy Father's Day

It's not whether you get knocked down,
it's whether you get back up...

Game 5 last night between the Florida
Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers.  Panthers kicked
the Oilers butt in Canada.  Yay!  Florida leads the
series 3-2.  Tuesday the Panthers play at home.
Hopefully will be the last game.

It's Father's Day here in the United States.
Unfortunately it's been many many years since we have
all celebrated this day together with my dad, but no matter
the distance, the heart remembers and the heart knows. My
dad has always been a hands on dad and grandpa.

I remember when I was a little girl and we lived in
Guyana (British Guyana).  My parents had left us with
our grandmother and went in search of a better life for us.
First they went to Minnesota.  My dad had a scholarship,
but the harsh Minnesota's weather was not for them.

They moved to Puerto Rico with his scholarship.
And that's where it all began and became home.

My parents would come to Guyana every year at
Christmas time to bring us back with them.  Each time
we were turned back and remained with our grandmother
and mom and dad returned to Puerto Rico.  Alone.

Whenever they came at Christmas I never left my
dad's side.  He took me everywhere he went and never
let go of my hand.  I looked at him with wonder.  Still do.
Some of my best memories of my childhood are images
of my dad with us.  Always telling us how much
he loves us.  That has not changed. Never will.

Life has been good to them in so many ways.
Through all the hardships, my dad never lost his
belief in people.  His sense of humor, and his pride
in his five daughters and nine grandchildren.

Watching his love and devotion to our mother (mutual)
is the example we grew up with.  My dad has always
been an example in our lives.  His teachings and values
are with us and his grandchildren.  When you talk about
a good person, good human being this is my dad.

A Happy Father's day to all the dad's out there.
Especially to my dad, Arvid and all my brothers-in-laws,
who everyday show what a dad is all about.  They don't
just talk the talk, but they also walk the walk.

A father is someone you look
up to no matter how tall you grow...
