Just The Way It Is....

I usually get my stuff from people who promised somebody else that they would keep it a secret....

Just back from the Blues Festival in Tampa where aside from listening to good music, I also enjoyed reading a couple of books.  I love to read and I get caught up in the book and the moment and each time I read a book I feel like as if I were transported into this world if only for a brief moment.

This weekend my books were mystery and suspense mixed with some intrigue.  What was amusing and was the way these characters lied to each other.  It was so believable and not only because it was in the book, but because it reminded me of people in real life.  Some I know very well and others I will call acquaintances.

I found it amusing just because my girlfriend is the kind that can tell you anything with a straight face even though you know it's a lie. She tells it in such a way that I always end up laughing.  She tells facts graphically and lies graphically.  Sometimes it's hard to distinguish one form the other.  I don't claim to promote this behaviour, but.... None is meant to hurt, but I think it's her way of getting attention.  She lives alone, she does not date much and she is quite often at home and bored most of the time.  When we get together it's time to let loose and see who can upstage the other.  She always wins!  It's all in good fun and never aimed at anyone just entertainment.  I love my outings with her.  Always fun and with the most unexpected of outcomes.

We all have secrets.  Things that may be too personal to share with anyone or just because we rather not share it with anyone.  Arvid says that I am the last person he knows who can keep a secret because "you just don't know how."  It's true.  I don't like secrets.  I don't like surprises.  I like to know and when I know I like to share with my family.   Not sure what's so terrible with this anyway.

Arvid on the other hand loves secrets and surprises.  We once went to North Carolina without telling my parents.  We, well he surprised my mom at the mall.  Spooked the life out of her.  To this day she talks about it.  One year we went to Texas because he wanted to surprise my sister and family...they were needless to say, very surprised.  So many times he has done this that now everyone knows him for his surprises.  My mom always says that Arvid is something else.   He always has something up his sleeves.  One year I visited my parents for 4 days in North Carolina.  When I came back he had bought himself a Mercedes SL500.  Said he was bored.  I never know what is going he will show up with next.

I believe that the secret to being happy is to tell as little as possible and if you have to just make sure you are telling it to the right person or persons....my mom is that person for me!  She knows all my "secrets"

To keep your secret is wisdom; but to expect others to keep it is folly...
There are no secrets better kept than the secrets that everybody
guesses.....
