Excitement...

Dreams get you into the future and add excitement to the present...

Christmastime is my favorite time of the year. You will probably hear me say this quite often during this time.  From the time I was a little girl growing up in Guyana, to today it holds memories that are forever a special part of me tucked deeply in my heart.  As a child in Guyana, together with my aunts, uncles and grandmother we cooked, baked and went caroling around the neighbourhood.  Most of our presents were homemade, but we were surrounded by family and love.  We still are.

If I concentrate hard enough I still can smell all the delicious aromas of the cakes and all the Christmas preparations taking place.  Everyone was happy and life was good.  Not a care in the world.
Christmas meant we were going to have all kinds of goodies that we normally did not have during the rest of the year.  Yes, it was and is a special time for me.

Life is still good and Christmas is still my favorite time of the year.  Being with Arvid it is sometimes difficult to get into the Christmas spirit.  If there is anyone who does not like Christmas it is him.  Fortunately, my parents are coming and this has me more excited than ever.
It's like being a child all over again.  My mom's birthday is on Christmas day so this day is twice as special for us.  Though we do not put up a Christmas tree, we have a few decorations that make our home all Christmasy and the smell of the Clementines tells me it's soon Christmas.
My favorite Christmas decorations are a Mr and Mrs, Claus given to us many years ago by Arvid's parents.  They bring back fond memories of Arvid's dad.  Always smiling and joking with everyone.  For him everyday was like Christmas.  I was fortunate to know him for a few years before he died, and these Santa's for that reason will forever be special.

In preparation for my parents' visit we are cleaning and cleaning.  My mom is the definition of CLEAN, so we both want them to come to a spotless place.  Arvid who rarely does window washing will be washing all the windows and sliding doors.  He also says he has to stock up the refrigerator with my dad's favorite beers and wine for my mom.

Yes, we are both looking forward to their visit and today it is more cleaning.
Best time of the year everyone.  Enjoy!

I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and... I believe in miracles...
