Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that
something else is more important than fear...

In the face of disaster, tragedy or hardship we all seem to discover in ourselves
courage we never knew we had.  Basic survival instincts kick in and makes us
stronger and braver.  It's just how it is.  We know it when we live it.

When everything is stacked against us, and the one thing we want to do is to give
up and say, "enough" a tiny voice inside says, "not so fast."  It is that tiny
voice I listen to.  It is the voice telling me that giving up is for the weak
and I know for sure that if anything I am not weak.

As with many facing hard times right now, we all know that the last thing we
will do is to give in, for giving in is the same as giving up on life
and on the opportunity of seeing a new tomorrow.

I have lived through some hard times and I don't doubt there will be more to come,
but with courage and determination I am ready to tackle another day and
to see a brighter tomorrow.  I know many feel the same.  Don't give up.
Things may seem terrible today, but tomorrow is another day.  Remember,
sometimes even to live is an act of courage, and boy don't I know.

Courage is the power to let go of the familiar...
